The name Flokk comes from the Norwegian word for a group, which is still a good way to describe what Flokk is today: a family of specialised brands brought together to create better workplaces. The idea has never been to make everything the same. It is to support distinctive brands, help them grow, and build something stronger together in an industry that has long been highly fragmented.
Our story, though, started long before 2017. Our roots stretch back to 1872 with Giroflex, followed by HÅG in 1943, and RH in the 1970s. Collectively, our brands have over 400 years of experience in designing and manufacturing furniture. In 2007, HÅG, RH and RBM became the foundation of Scandinavian Business Seating, creating the platform that would later become Flokk.
From there, the group expanded by bringing in brands with clear identities and complementary strengths. BMA Ergonomics joined in 2015, strengthening Flokk’s position in the Benelux and adding deep expertise in ergonomic task seating. Malmstolen followed in 2016. In 2017, Scandinavian Business Seating became Flokk, and the group also added Offecct and Giroflex, broadening its design capabilities and European reach. Profim joined in 2018, expanding Flokk’s presence in Central Europe and widening its product offer, while 9to5 Seating joined in 2019, giving Flokk a direct platform in the US market.
Recent years have continued that momentum. Connection joined Flokk in 2022, strengthening the group’s position in the UK and adding collaborative furniture and local manufacturing. In 2024, Stylex further expanded Flokk’s US presence, followed by Via Seating in February 2025. In April 2026, Spec became part of Flokk, strengthening the group in Canada and adding a stronger foothold in North American healthcare environments.
As Flokk has grown, parts of the portfolio have also been brought closer together where the fit was right. RBM was integrated into Profim, and BMA into RH, reflecting a strategy of growing specialised brands while also simplifying the portfolio where shared strengths in design, quality and ergonomics could be combined. Today, Flokk is a broader international group than it was in 2017, but the principle remains the same: different brands, shared ambition, and a common goal of inspiring great work.
