Key to the project was the desire for a sustainable approach to workspace design, using environmentally friendly furniture, that was also flexible to deliver a dynamic workspace experience in today’s Hybrid working era. With seven floors of workspace to furnish, Flokk were enlisted early in the process, helping to turn rough sketches into concrete plans, providing advice on layouts, furniture choices and workspace zoning, based on the needs of Forte.
Located inside a historical building in central Oslo, the new office features five focus workspaces, 12 meeting rooms of various sizes as well as a range of booths for private calls or extra concentration. There is also a lounge and flexible spaces to accommodate spontaneous use, as well as a free to use cafeteria and workout space open seven days a week for employees.
Forte has experienced rapid expansion since founding in 2017 and their new office needed to be large enough to accommodate all employees. There was also the desire for it to be a space that better reflected the values and culture of Forte.
Central to the concept was to create a place that felt like home. Many Forte employees sit in client workspaces or work remotely for much of the week. Only gathering as a whole once every two weeks, the new headquarters acts as an attraction for all employees, offering a place to socialise, reconnect, collaborate and re-immerse themselves in the culture of Forte.
The space also had to be incredibly flexible. Multi-use environments providing space for all employees to work during their in office day, easily adapted to meetings, workshops and event spaces when the office is less populated.
Forte managed the interior design in-house, working with a range of experts, including Flokk, who consulted on furniture and workspace planning. After going through the various options, Forte narrowed down the selection of furniture by visiting Flokk’s showroom and trying out various products, as well as exploring the full range of fabrics available with the help of Flokk’s colour and fabric consultants. Meeting the key criteria of comfort, flexibility and sustainable design, Flokk were able to provide seating for every workspace across each floor, as well as a range of tables and accessories.
HÅG SoFi Mesh was specified as the general task chair, with HÅG Tribute featuring in the board room as well as some focus spaces. Profim Fan and Profim Nu feature in more casual meeting rooms as well as some social areas, with Profim Noor specified in the canteen. Profim Noor Up was placed in focus booths, with Profim SoftBox used in the workshop project room. Offecct Carry On Stools were dotted around as flexible casual seating. Several other Flokk products, including tables, feature throughout the project.
The designs were all chosen for their soft edges, easily adaptable controls and comfort. The task chairs in particular offer advanced ergonomic qualities, allowing for lasting comfort during extended work periods. Colour matched and in tune with the overall design aesthetic, the entire ensemble of furniture adds to homely feel of the workspace.
