What began as a hobby for founders Jonas Köppel and Stefan Hofmann has blossomed into a thriving business based on craftsmanship and tradition, where every task is completed by hand, a personal touch missing from your conventional watch brand.

Stefan: “Our aim was not to make a watch, but to create a unique specimen. Each piece is something special, the result of many hours work. We want them to be technically and aesthetically perfect. That’s why our watches come with a glass back, you should see what watchmakers can achieve.”

Such labour intensive work demands only the best tools, and for Novel, the HÅG Capisco is the perfect workplace companion. Jonas: “Making watches involves lots of sitting down, in different positions, deep in concentration. The HÅG Capisco, with it precise adjustments, freedom of movement and supreme comfort is the perfect chair for us.”

With its Renaissance period architecture and riverside location, the Swiss town of Shaffhausen, steeped in history, has a 400-year tradition in clock making. It is here that you find Novel, an artisanal watchmaking brand, striving for timepiece perfection.

Each item that Novel make contains 184 different components, each on hand made, meticulously crafted to precise measurements. Roughly 20 hours work goes into each timepiece, a process which took the founders over four years to hone to perfection.

The HÅG Capisco is a design icon that continues to withstand the test of time. Inspired by a horseback rider's posture, its pioneering saddle seat and overall unique shape, offer endless ways to sit or half stand.
